Alan Mathison Turing (1912 – 1954) - An English mathematician and computer scientist, who brought a major contribution to the development of theoretical computer science(Turing machine) and artificial intelligence. He also took direct part in the breaking of German ciphers (Enigma machine) and it is commonly said that his work was decisive in shortening the Second World War in Europe by more than two years saving so many live. He was prosecuted in 1952 for homosexual acts and finally accepted chemical castration treatment, and died in 1954 from cyanide poisoning, probably commiting suicide.Official apologies came… in 2009 with a posthumous pardon of Queen Elizabeth II in 2013, and a more general law on prosecuted homosexual acts in 2017, informally known as the Alan Turing law.

Alan Mathison Turing (1912 - 1954) - Mathématicien et informaticien anglais, qui contribua au développement de l'informatique théorique (machine de Turing) et de l'intelligence artificielle. Il a également participé directement à casser les codes cryptographiques allemands. On dit que son travail aurait permis de raccourcir de plus de deux ans la Seconde Guerre mondiale en Europe, sauvant ainsi de nombreuses vies. Il fut poursuivi en 1952 pour actes homosexuels et accepta un traitement par castration chimique. Il mourut en 1954 d'un empoisonnement au cyanure, probablement d'un suicide. Des excuses officielles furent formulées… en 2009 avec le pardon posthume de la reine Elizabeth II en 2013 et une loi plus générale en 2017, connue officieusement sous le nom de « loi Alan Turing ».

The Neumann principles, which determined the operation of the computers in a study written in 1945, still determine the operation of the modern computers. Even these days, all info-communication tools, from desk computers to laptops, smart phones to industrial applications are all structures in the same way and operate on the basis of the Neumann principle.” (
