It’s in cooperation with a student of Titian, Johan van Calcar, that Vesalius published his first anatomical text in 1538.
After graduating, Vesalius traveled through Italy and esp. took care of people by Hansen’s disease (leprosy) in the surrounding of the future Pope Paul IV and Ignatius of Loyola

He was proficient in many disciplines including: anatomy, physiology as well as philosophy or logic. His anatomical descriptions remained uncontested until Andreas Vesalius.
