Preah Thong and Neang Neak

Preah Thong and Neang Neak

The origins of the Khmer people ជនជាតិ ខ្មែរ
The union of an Indian prince and a Naga princess
Named respectively Preah Thong and Neang Neak

A hermit tells the prince
When sailing east, he would find land
And that it would become a great and prosperous kingdom ...

Fulfilling this dream,
Preah Thong fell in love with Neang Neak
And they got married soon after…

Traditional Khmer wedding ceremonies
Have never forgotten this first union…

"The night goes on
Dew is falling
The cold wind blows
Your hands warm my heart… ”
(From the song Preah Thong Tong Sbai)

Aux origines du peuple khmer

Tes mains me réchauffent… »
(De la chanson Preah Thong Tong Sbai)
